LG 50PK950 Plasma TV Review (German)
LGs Flaggschiff hört auf den Namen Infinia 50PK950. Der Name rührt von der bündigen Glasfront her. In dieser kleinen Review seht ihr diesen wirklich sehr gelungen designten Fernseher von allen Seiten, erfahrt ein wenig zur Bildqualität und den Features und bekommt einen Einblick ins Menüsystem inclusive LGs “Netcast” Feature.
Hier ist mein neuer 50 zoll Plasma TV. Das gute stück hat ca 1000 Euro gekostet. Ist Mega geil^^

To be fair, I will say that the LG 60PK550 represents the best bang for the buck for HDTV shoppers this year… : P
If you can somehow place it in a dimly-lit area where the lighting can be controlled easily, you’ll still get amazing picture quality out of that huge shiny screen.
If you shop around for ‘em, you can get one for at low as $1,300 shipped.
Up until just a few years ago, you’ll prolly be paying at least 5 to 8 grand for a plasma of that size!
I’ve heard that the Panasonic VT25 series plasmas are at least as good if not better, tho they’re a bit more expensive… : P
It boasts excellent 2D/3D picture quality, and the sound is said to be pretty decent too due to the 3rd extra speaker at the bottom.
But what that beast does best is that it KILLS glare like nobody’s business.
The design aesthetics on the Panasonic are prolly nothing to write home about, but some people can live with that as long as the performance is rock-solid.
My friend was originally planning to get the LG 50PK950 for his office, but the glare kinda scared him off, so he settled on the the Samsung PN50C8000 instead.
He bought the extended warranty from Square Trade just-in-case, because you guys all know how Samsung is like when it comes to warranty service…
Well, all I can say is that his new Samsung plasma has quite a statement to make in terms of both the design AND picture quality.
And best of all, it can handle 3D content pretty well too.

Yeargh, I’ve heard some really good things about your LG… : P
When expertly calibrated, it can display some of the most accurate and life-like colors you’ll ever see due to it having tons of picture adjustments included.
The only major downside is the GLARE that most people are having problems with.
No offense, but wwhat’s the point of owning such a beautiful-looking TV like that when ya can’t even see like HALF the picture on the screen?
@OtomoTenzi For me the LG is the perfect match (besides it IS calibrated) – as said, for me it’s a piece of furnituere aside of being a video displaying device.
And I’ve had a Samsung before the LG. Buzzed like hell. Terrible crap. I’d never buy a Samsung TV anymore, not even a LED. Fact was that they didn’t manage to sort out the buzzing problems on the Plasma series I’ve had within 1,5 YEARS.

The styling on the LGs are prolly among the best this year, but I still think the Sammys and Pannys definately got the PERFORMANCE down tho… : P
While your sleek-looking LG plasma might impress art students and designers, but when your videophile buddies come over to scrutinize the latest Blu-ray; they’re prolly gonna have a few things to say about your picture quality.
Your best bet is to get it expertly calibrated or something.

Definitely true for the reflection part. But it’s also more a general brightness-thing than just the reflections. These days most TVs actually are high-gloss, just the filters the manufacturers use are different.
Also Panasonic TVs are MUCH more expensive than LG is. Picturewise I’d choose a Panny but the LGs are so much more beautiful (to me)… after all for me it’s also a piece of furniture.
LG plasmas are not gonna be any good if you’re planning on watching TV in a bright room, due to their ultra-glossy screens and poor anti-reflective properties… : P
Also, keep in mind that rechargeable 3D glasses are probably not gonna be nearly as good as the battery-operated ones in the long run; especially when they start failing or losing their ability to hold a good charge.
I would very strongly highly recommend either the Panasonics or Samsung’s lineup of 3D plasmas over these LGs.

Weiß jemand von welcher Beleuchtung des Standfußes gesprochen wird? Im Video wird während der Textpassage die Uhr angezeigt von einer Beleuchtung gesprochen, welche ist gemeint und wie lässt sich diese aktivieren?
Ferner wollte ich noch fragen warum sich der Schwarzwert egal in welchem Bildmodus nicht einstellen lässt, bzw. wie man diesen noch verbessern kann, da bei mir schwarz im dunklen Raum eher grau wirkt.
Kann jemand helfen?

Das interessanteste an einem Plasma ist allerdings das Ansprechverhalten der Zellen. Absolut keine Technologie hat ein dermaßen geringes Ansprechverhalten der Zellen. Für 3D-Heimkino , oder Konsolenzocker ist ein Plasma sowieso die bessere Wahl. Nachteil der Plasmas ist der doch etwas höhere Stromverbrauch, der allerdings auch NUR bei hell dargestellten Szenen zu buche schlägt.

Sie werden immer dunkler? Mit dunkler meinst Du, dass die Farben und Kontrastwerte nachlassen?! Keine Ahnung wo Du das her hast, aber das ist purer nonsense.
Plasma ist in sachen Bildqualität das “non plus ultra” sofern man einen guten Plasma hat. Plasmas haben eine absolut unerreichte Farbtiefe. Auch die Schwarzwerte sind von anderen Technologien nicht erreichbar.

Sie brennen ein? Die Gefahr des “Einbrennens” ist nur in den ersten 100 Betriebsstrunden gefährlich. Danach sind die Phosphorzellen so gealtert, dass das Risiko des “Einbrennens” um 80% sinkt. Desweiteren wird absolut KEINE Privatperson einen TV so benutzen, dass sich da jemals etwas einbrennen könnte. Solange da also kein Standbild 10Stunden läuft ist das alles kein Problem.

Ich weißt nicht was die alle gegen Plasma haben! Es breent nix ein und ist leistungsfähiger als ein LCD~ Mehr farben Kontraste usw~ Bedenke dran wie alt schon LCD technik ist~ Wer sich Wirklich ein neuen TV kaufen möchte solte am besten zu den LED TVs zugreifen! Wer weniger Geld hat kann sich ja für den LCD oder plasma entscheiden. Tip>> so größer ein LCD soo teurer ist er gegen teil von plasma!

@chriss151515 LOOOOL ich und meine kinder schauen ca. am Tag 10 Stunden und davon schaue ich 3 Stunden fern am tag ! das heißt ich würde 30€ zahlen pro Tag! wie du schon sagst 5 stunden am Tag = 15 € im Monat !
@freshaashiq Ein neuer Plasma verbraucht nicht mehr viel Strom. Ich weiß ja nicht bei welchem Stromanbieter du bist, aber mein 50 Zoll Plasma verbraucht bei 5 Stunden Laufzeit am Tag ca. 15,00€ im Monat. Wo ist da dein Problem?

kontraste zeigen diese genau so gut wenn nicht besser. und sie sind erst am anfang der entwicklung sozusagen. plasma find ich überflüssig.

na weist du, erstmal waren die röhren von loewe wirklich sehr top
aber die neuen loewe haben ur noch LG panels drinn, oder teilweise samsung..genauso wie die lautsprecher…. so viel geld für chinascheisse..???.. ansich, gut verarbeitet.. aber ich persönlich finde es geeeeeht NICHTS über plasma TV s von PANASONIC….
